Kia Motors Corporation (KMC) announced today that its vehicle sales rose by 15.4% year-on-year to 703,175 units during the first nine months of 2004, thanks to brisk exports to Europe and North America, and the hugely successful launch of the new compact Sportage SUV on the domestic Korean market.
Exports jumped 41.7% compared to last year, reaching 516,604 units due mainly to strong sales of the Kia Magentis/Optima passenger car, Sorento SUV and the popular new models: the C-Segment Cerato and colourful Picanto (A-Segment) small car.
In Europe, where Kia is currently the fastest growing automotive brand, export volume increased to 176,896 units, representing a 63.8% rise.
