Kia Motors Europe incorporates new Dutch subsidiary

- Kia takes over responsibility for its vehicle distribution and sales in the Netherlands.
- Establishment of new subsidiary ensures ‘peace-of-mind’ for Kia customers.

With immediate effect, Kia Motors Europe will take over the import and distribution of Kia vehicles into the Netherlands following the incorporation of a new Kia-owned subsidiary. Consequently, the brief period of uncertainty caused by the bankruptcy of the previous importer (a privately owned company, Kia Nederland BV, a part of the Kroymans Corporation), has been brought to a rapid conclusion and the way ahead is clear for the continued healthy development of the Kia brand in the Netherlands.

The new Kia-owned Dutch importer, called ‘Kia Motors Nederland BV’ has acquired the assets of KIA Nederland BV. The trustees in bankruptcy have terminated all employment agreements with the employees of KIA Nederland BV and Kia Motors Nederland BV envisages offering the vast majority of the current Kia-Nederland employees a new employment agreement. The daily management of the new importer will be lead by Cor Baltus, who was closely involved in the negotiations between the trustees in bankruptcy of Kia Nederland BV and Kia Motors.

President of Kia Motors Europe, Mr Sun Young Kim, commented: “Of course I am very happy that we have, in an extremely short period of time, been successful in securing the importation and marketing of Kia products in the Dutch market. The service to our customers and dealers has hardly been interrupted. Furthermore, we have ensured that the valuable know-how and experience of Kia Nederland employees is retained as most of them will be able to switch over to the new importer.”

“Our new subsidiary in the Netherlands will ensure that Kia’s operations continue with the least disruption for our dealers, while maintaining the best-possible levels of service for our customers. We look forward to an exciting year for Kia in the Netherlands with the introduction of the Kia Soul urban crossover, new versions of the popular Kia cee’d and, later in the year, two all-new products – the New Sorento and our eagerly-awaited compact MPV which will redefine the genre,” added President Kim.
