BackNew President for Kia Motors Europe
Kia has announced the appointment of Mr Sun-Young Kim to the position of President Kia Motors Europe with immediate effect.
Mr Kim brings a wealth of diverse executive experience to Kia’s European operations having worked in the automotive industry in Korea, the USA, Belgium and the UK.
Born in February, 1955, Mr Kim joined Hyundai Engineering & Construction Ltd in 1981 and subsequently held senior executive positions at the Hyundai Corporations headquarters in Seoul, at Hyundai Motors America and at Korea’s largest components manufacturer — Hyundai Mobis, initially in Belgium, before being appointed Vice President of the International Business Division based in Seoul.
In January 2007, Mr Kim was appointed President of Kia UK and oversaw the annual sales which outperformed the market trend during his two years with the company.
The 53-year old Mr Kim is married with two children and is an enthusiastic golfer in his spare time.
Mr Kim’s predecessor at KME, Mr Kwang Ho Nam, is returning to the Kia Motors in Korea, to take up a new executive position at the corporation’s headquarters.
