ABS, EBD and BAS give secure and stable stopping

The Cerato´s power-assisted all-disc braking system makes maximum use of the space available within the standard 15 inch diameter wheels. Ventilated front discs (275 mm diameter) and solid rear discs (258 mm) deliver secure and stable braking performance with consistent pedal feel.

Four-channel, four-sensor, anti-lock ABS is standard fit for Cerato models in Europe. The system incorporates an electronic brake force distributor (EBD), helping to distribute braking force evenly among all four wheels. The EBD is able to adapt to individual wheel grip conditions, adding a further degree of control and stability.

The Cerato is equipped with a Brake Assist System (BAS). The system can sense when a driver is trying to make an emergency stop and helps by braking harder and faster - overcoming the human tendency not to brake hard enough, soon enough. A tandem servo supplies the brake boost power and the Parking Brake is a mechanical unit operating on both rear wheels.

A Traction Control System (TCS) is available as an option. It is a dual-mode system which can reduce engine power or apply the car´s brakes - or both if appropriate. It uses the sensors of the ABS system to monitor when an individual wheel starts to slip or loose grip on a slippery surface, and applies that wheel´s brake or cuts engine power to slow the wheels rotation until grip is restored.

Bridgestone tires for every model

In Europe, every Cerato will come with Bridgestone tyres, whatever choice of wheel the customer makes. The standard wheels are 6.0 inch wide, 15 inch diameter steel units, with full-size moulded plastic trims, fitted with 195/60 R15 tires.

Two optional wheel/tyre packages are available. Five-spoke 6.0J x 15 inch alloy wheels with 195/60 R15 tyres, and eight-spoke 6.0J x 16 inch alloy wheels with 205/50 R16 tyres. A full-size spare steel wheel and tyre is located in a trunk floor well.
